Greetings Optimist/Friends,

As we begin the 2005-2006 Optimist year, I congratulate Past President Everett L. Adams on his outstanding year.
This was a president on a mission to make our club diverse and strong by recruiting members young and not so
young who share our mission -----
"A FRIEND OF YOUTH".  He was very successful in this endeavor.  From the club
we shout from the highest mountain
"MISSION ACCOMPLISHED".

As we start a new chapter in the history of the Hidden Valley Optimist Club, the most prestigious in the North Carolina
West District, I accept this challenge as President with unwavering resolve, dedicated and determined to continue
building on the inspiring legacy that past presidents shaped for the past 25 years.

Special thanks to all club members for your support in the coming year, we are a team, and will continue to work
together for the kids.  Many Thanks for accepting positions on standing committee as indicated in the 2005-2006
organization chart.  We will have a successful year with the commitments you have made.

As we write the 26th chapter of the Hidden Valley Optimist Club, we have reached another milestone, another
opportunity and another challenge to add to the history and accomplishments of our club.  The 2005-2006 Governor
of the NC West District #44 of Optimist International is our own Richard Highland.  As Club President, he was a leader
with a vision and strong belief in the club.  He believed we could turn our failures into successes, recruit and rebuild to
continue serving the community....Under his leadership and directions we excelled, and are again a viable and
necessary part of the community.  He has stepped forward to again lead, this time as Governor of the North Carolina
West District.  Congratulations Richard, from the Hidden Valley Optimist Club.  We are behind you 200%.  As the
Governor, he has asked us to
"ADD ONE".  He asks the we add one new project, one new member, one new club,
one new donation and attend one additional District Meeting and one new Zone Meeting for the 2005-2006 year.  This
is an all out effort to show commitment to our club, our governor and our community.  With the club working as a team,
we can and will support our governor.
(WE ARE THE HOME TEAM)

Also, I have requested the Finance/Budget/Fundraising and Membership Committee to start working immediately.  The
Membership Committee will come up with creative recruiting ideas and themes for this year and the Fundraising
Committee will research and recommend one additional project for the current year.  We must
"add one".

Remember, if you have suggestions, or ideas please share it with the club.  We are in the business of "Bringing Out
The Best In Kids"
and we need your help.

This is an exciting time for me, and I am honored to serve as your 2005-2006 Club President.  I will uphold the Optimist
Creed and move forward, with courage, conviction, confidence and an indomitable spirit to ensure success

Again, thank you for this opportunity to serve you,
"Let's keep the never-ending story alive in 2005-2006," by
"Bring Out The Best In KIDS!!"

Yours in Optimism,

Mary M. Jones
